| Ovislink WMU-6500FS | [permalink] |

| Recently Ovislink sent me the WMU-6500FS, an enclosure for either a SATA or ATA hard drive with a wireless and wired network connection. The enclosure has 2 USB host connections so you could easily add USB hard drives. And if that's not all, it offer support for FTP, HTTP en BitTorrent downloads. This allows you to share / download files without having to turn on your PC. This is very interesting because a lot of ISPs offer twice the bandwidth if you download at night. So I'll be testing this enclosure in the next couple of days and you can expect a detailed review about the WMU-6500FS pretty soon. -Wim UPDATE : We've just reviewed the WMU-6500FS and I must say, it is an outstanding device! The review can be read in the review section of our site. |

| Nintendo DS | [permalink] |
|---|---|
| So recently i bought myself the R4 DS card which allows me to use my DS as a MP3 / MPEG player. I soon became fascinated by the amount of power my older DS had. Since the R4 card allows me to run any *.nds file I started looking for programming tools and compilers for the nintendo DS. When I was looking on the internet whether or not I could find some info about homebrew software on the DS I came across the Devkit ARM ( available at Sourceforge) which is a compiler for the ARM processors ( The DS is power by two of them. An ARM7 for the top screen and an ARM9 for the bottom Touchscreen ). But I want more info, so I didn't take long before I came across a Software Development Support Group over at Wario World. I've just created an account and I'm waiting for the activation e-mail as we speak. For those who may concern, the site will completely change. There will still be enough room for my reviews, but there will also be some room for my electronics projects and my modding adventures. We already managed to build a rather large LED display and we will post a complete how-to. Future projects include a Class D amplifier for car speakers, some RGB faders and a Touchscreen interface for the PC. More info will be placed online as soon as we know more. -Wim |

| The I phone | [permalink] |
|---|---|
| Early this year Steve jobs apple"s CEO had some great news for us. He wanted to present a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device as he smartly said in his Keynote. you can view the entire Keynote at the apple site http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/keynote/ but here I will discuss what i think of the Iphone. As a new player in cell phone country apple had a lot of ground to cover. A goal they have reached with flying collors. besides the Iphone being good looking and very functional, the price is a big advantage. if you have to buy an MP3 player and a cellphone/PDA cellphone combo you will pay a lot more than apple's target price. that price being 400 to 500 USD The I phone will come to the EU in Q4 07 on it's release we will be testing it with of course a full review Greetings Bjorn |

| Open-E | [permalink] |
|---|---|
| Open-E, the makers of NAS modules recently changed from using IDE DOMs to usinge USB DOMs. This doesn't only increase the speed of the system but it also eliminates the need of the extra power cable that you need. The Open-E modules have a lot of features. Features like software RAID and S/N recognition. Here's a short feature list.
And one of the best features imho is the fact that you don't loose your RAID information when the module fails. You can just plug in a new module and you're ready to go. Even better, you can even plug in a included CD to keep your system online in the meantime. If you would like some more information regarding the available modules you should check out their site. -Wim |

A competitor for the Ovislink GSH8TW when you don’t need all those advanced features. The review can be found in the “Reviews” section and is called “Hardware – Network – Zyxel GS-108.pdf” |
